I also could not resist the chance to hear and learn the “Chicken Yodel”. While Kerry doesn’t really teach this, the CD opens with him performing this terrifically fun yodel song ( the “Clarinet Polka” with yodels and chicken sounds) and, as soon as I heard it, I made it my goal to be able to yodel that song.
Okay, Kerry does not give you any real tricks to find your “break” and you know by now that is important to me. He does suggest trying to make wolf sounds that might help you discover your “break”. This may work for you.
But, the rest of the training is very complete and Kerry performs all yodels in two keys. One for lower range singers (men) and the other for those with higher range (women). He also provides a number of demonstrations as well as some “practice” songs to sing along with. I like his very laid back approach and you can tell he’s a friendly guy. In addition, his yodeling is beautiful.
You really should be sure to get his CD’s as you will hear the absolute best yodeling there is - from the sublime to the ridiculous (meaning funny). Kerry’s other yodel CD’s are shown to the right and below. I’ve listed them in the order of my preference in case you can’t buy them all right now.
He also has a couple of CD’s with no yodeling and you might be interested in them. For Kerry’s newest CD you have to go to his website where you can also get other CD’s not listed on Amazon. (If it’s not too much trouble, please use my Amazon links to buy. That way I get a few cents from the sale too. If it works better for you to buy from Kerry’s site, that’s okay too. I know you will really enjoy his music!)
